VERGE SF 2014 is out of the oven, ready for this year´s consumption.

The gurus of content and events have managed to cross sustainability´s leading edge Thought Leaders with a Technology Showcase "Interconnect-EXPO"  like none other via "Gamification of Everything" ( Gabe Zichermann's talk title from last year taken to heart to the max with this year´s networking community).  The Interconnect-EXPO is powered by its own MicroGrid inside the Palace Hotel San Francisco with non-trivial live demos that the SF Exploratorium might find worthy to covet.

Get Ready Congressional politicians - We the People are juiced to Design Think-Integrate ourselves out of the proverbial box to tap into the non-GHG energy sources all around us. Thank you in advance for working with us to escalate incentives for any and all that take their neighborhood or Town Hall to full Zero Net Energy.

The new Sustainability is Zero Net Energy. A sampling of the event´s many Tutorials will be, in fact on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Check it out and more here:

Designing Net Zero: Energy, Water, Carbon

VERGE SF 2014 is all about radical efficiencies and business opportunities created by interconnected technologies for energy, buildings and transportation.

Not an early adopter?  Better get ready! Sustainability is entering an era of Full Scale Integration - opening up unprecedented opportunities for the Design Community -- from architects to design engineers to local activists wanting to recast what is possible at the local level for global policy makers to take note.  If you are thinking Sustainability is a Corporate Responsibility Report, watch out!  Bulldozers are coming through to build Zero Net Energy to new heights, new levels.

VERGE SF 2014 opens Monday Oct 27 and runs through Thursday Oct 30.  Can´t make it to Ground Zero at the Palace Hotel SF?  Register here instead for the Virtual Event.  Everyone will want to do so for being able to review the treasure

One needs to look no further to experience the leading edge, period.
VERGE and its Attendees ARE the Leading Edge.  And delivered up via Free Forum style that only happens in San Francisco.

By Thursday afternoon, new solutions for local to global sustainability advances will have evolved via the Design Think infused scheduling that leverages the innovative minds and experience drawn from several hundred participants managed by social media on steroids.

Lisa Jackson, past Head of the EPA, now of Apple Computer brings us to speed on Apple´s environmental initiatives as the summary talk on Thursday.

Rest assured, per VERGE six tracks of tutorials, panels and technology presentations, no stone will be left unturned by the innovative forces interacting from inside VERGE SF 2014.  The tracks are:

  • Distributed Energy Systems
  • Sustainable Mobility
  • Next-Gen Buildings
  • Resilient Cities
  • Food and Water Systems
  • Smarter Supply Chains

  • Brian Ray 1st played with Paul McCartney for the 2002 Superbowl, four months after 911. McCartney's "Freedom" was the only song performed.
  • 14 years in his employ, Brian Ray, Rusty Anderson, Paul “Wix” Wickens and Abe Laboriel, Jr., have now played together with McCartney for a longer period of time than the Beatles (1962-70).

  • By age 8, Brian Ray was playing "G-L-O-R-I-A"  written and 1st played by Van Morrisson in 1963 who was only 18 att the time, but in Germany.
  • By 19, Brian would become Musical Director and Guitarist for blues singer Etta James.  For 14 years, they shared stages with Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, and John Lee Hooker among others of Rock & Roll and Blues fame.
  • Brian says he first knew what he wanted to do when he grew up when he saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. That would have been February 9, 1964 - the vanguard of The British Invasion.
  • But his earliest gigs were as guitarist for his 13 year older sister, a recording artist of salt enough to be singing as Jim & Jean in Greenwich Village coffee houses alongside Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and more. As band member of “The Hollywood Rock & Roll Review”, Brian did Anti-Nuke benefits and Telethons backing up several artists including, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Bonny Raitt, Jackson Brown and Joe Walsh. Paul McCartney is a shy few months younger than Brian´s now deceased sister. They were both influenced by Bob Dylan and folk singer-songerwriters in America.  Rubber Soul noted as the 6th Best Album came forward as a progressed style, even genre as a result of the Beatles touring the U.S.
  • Brian Ray is thus no stranger to singer-songwriter acoustical folk of the 1960s.  His sister was cutting early counter-culture folk albums with her husband as Jim & Jean playing hit songs such as "Change" (1966) ,"Crucifixion" (1966). "People World" (1968) reached number 94 on the US Billboard 100 chart in 1968.  The album featured Bob Dylan´s Lay Down Your Weary Tune played 1st in 1963 in Carnegia Hall just months before Pete Seeger played "We Shall Overcome" on June 8, 1963.
  • Thanks to his ability to sound truly authentic while playing nearly any musical style, Brian is also in constant demand for recording sessions, and his work appears on songs for a broad range of popular artists, from Shakira to Adam Lambert.
  • Given that Steven Tyler is a big fan of The Bayonets, one can only imagine that Brian Ray would have made it to Simon Cowell´s Top 3 American Idol Run-offs.
  • McCartney wrote "Freedom" for Concert For New York, a benefit he organized for 911 attack victims. "Freedom" was the last song performed.
  • McCartney was in a plane waiting to take off at a New York airport when the World Trade Center was hit on September 11.
  • In an interview published in The Daily Telegraph May 25, 2010, McCartney explained why he doesn't sing "Freedom"  any more.  "I think it got hijacked a bit, and [turned into something] a bit militaristic. Mine was in the spirit of 'We Shall Overcome', you know, 'fight for your rights,' in the Civil Rights sense, doesn't mean 'Go out and hit people.' It was a pity: it kind of stopped me doing it, actually."

DJ Note / Editor Request to Paul McCartney: "Freedom", again, please, Paul. We we get it! Civil Rights our issue, oncoming tryanny the reality? America LIVE singing "Freedom" in the Stanford stadium? KZSU invites you...
(1985 XIX Superbowl, 84,000); have McCartney Band, will organize. Call (650) 723-9010.
  • In late 1963, Ed Sullivan and his entourage happened also to be passing through Heathrow and witnessed how The Beatles' fans greeted the group on their return from Stockholm. Sullivan was intrigued, telling his entourage it was the same thing as Elvis all over again. The Beatles appeared on three consecutive Sundays in February 1964 to great anticipation and fanfare as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had swiftly risen to No. 1 in the charts. Their first appearance on February 9 is considered a milestone in American pop culture and the beginning of the British Invasion in music. The broadcast drew an estimated 73 million viewers, at the time a record for US television. [1]
  • Local to Palo Alto were The Grateful Dead whose 1st appearances at Stanford Frost Theatre were facilitated by a Stanford insider Bill Scher who had booked bands as a student. The Dead 1st played outside the Tressider Student Union in October 1966.
  • The amphitheater, built in 1937, is named for John Laurence Frost of the Stanford class of ‘35, who died of polio just after graduation. Jazz shows by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, and a handful of rock shows, such as Jefferson Airplane in 1967 and a quadruple bill in 1968 featuring the Chambers Brothers, Quicksilver, Santana Blues Band and Creedence Clearwater Revival. A Miles Davis concert in October ’72, Crosby & Nash—Joan Baez, Loggins & Messina, America and George Benson add to Frost Amphitheatre´s provenance.
  • Perhaps the Bayonets & Paul McCartney Band should play a benefit nearby and extend the intertwined history.
  •  "Freedom" please.

CRASH BOOM BANG!
