CURRICULUM VITAE (COURSE OF LIFE)
WORK HISTORY
1986 - Now CHEBEL Companies
Chairman/CEO/Founder
Summary Statement of The Course, Charted
CHEBEL Companies has had its course charted since 1986 while standing on the border of Brazil & Bolivia. Having
witnessed , as a teenager, the financing and construction of the 800 mile Alaskan Pipeline, a feat executed in three years by a consortium of six large oil companys responding to an unprecedented global energy crisis, it seemed a small thing to dream as big
as to how it might be a good thing should someone declare and persuade the same to connect our Americas, north and south, by a yet higher order pipeline that carried freight and much much more via solar and hydrogen energy.
Always disturbed by the disparity of standard of living between 1st and 3rd world countries, -- disparity largely caused by oil, I committed myself that day, on the border, overlooking a village built of paste board boxes, to bring forth the most modern of transport systems through our common Americas isthmus. This 'most modern' would be a transport pipeline that could upgrade all of us to a higher standard of living, simultaneously. Disparity could be overcome.
Pollution levels in the U.S. were choking the average beachcomber in Los Angeles; the so called modern transport system and technologies were not working, and besides, man had been to the moon and back again, within six years. Apollo´s blueprint of blueprints had caused high speed and maglev surface transport to be set aside in the U.S. as not relevant. Flying to the moon was far sexier than a maglev train ride, coast to coast, at less than the sound barrier. All eyes were on this new mode of transport, i.e. rocketry. The 6th mode of transport to come to fruition in a single
century had overlooked surface transport that could have upgraded the entire planet´s infrastructure, and thus standard of living. Ironically, The Apollo Project had left Earth behind in certain respects; for absolute certain, its name was a misnomer for having been named after the Sun.
The real Apollo Project must now stand up.
It is CHEBEL´s goal to bring rocket science back to earth to fix our transport, aka energy problems, and via the lessons learned from both the Alaskan Pipeline and Apollo Projects. This is a bold statement. Yet one needs a single bold solution at such a time as this. The Sun is the solution. Everybody knows it, but nobody wants to declare business plans or policies around a non-depletable source of energy whose fuel is free. The world is on the brink of WWIII over disparities once again caused by oil and who gets to use it for what purpose. In Chile, lies the untapped Saudi of Solar. CHEBEL´s bold solution springs forth out of Chile. No other geography qualifies, nor is there a nation of people elsewhere who can be trusted, at such a time as this, with hosting the 21st century´s energy supply. Just as Saudi
Arabia, to this day, by far hosts the largest oil and gas reserves, Chile, can by far host solar derived energies for export, globally. The technologies do exist.... and this is what CHEBEL is all about, has been formed over, to deliver.
Because of the simple fact that infrastructure drives one´s standard of living, CHEBEL was conceived as the company that would focus on building the obvious: a surface transport pipeline that would finally connect the Americas for uniting all as The Americas trade block. This effort goes forward, and is currently in the phase of implementing its two energy cornerstones to be based in Chile´s Atacama Desert, and the United State´s New Mexican Chuihuahua Desert. Both are the highest, driest in the hemisphere, and the geographically optimal to harbor two necessary solar and hydrogen power supplies for CHEBEL´s Levitated InterNational Causeway (LINC). LINC is a the imagined, now fully conceived 'modern highway' of the 21st century. If its two power supplies alone get built, and nothing else, Chile´s energy woes will be solved, and experts´prognosis for future energy policies will have been re-vectored to again include hydrogen. For 30 years, all G20 Nations had well funded government ´Hydrogen Roadmaps´ that assured the auto makers that their billions poured into R&D for electric, hybrid, and Hydrogen Fuel Cell (HFC) vehicles would not be in vain.
Unless a country like Chile adopts the best lessons learned from this G20 abandoned research, the auto makers´billions spent on HFC technologies will be cast aside by Big Oil as a poker game, won. Unconventional gas is their new solution. Now the cry is, "Why don´t we have Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cars yet?"
Man was put on the moon without a business plan. Visionaries have long since been forced to work as accountants, computer programmers, and compartmentalized academic researchers. Feasibility studies must now be written ad nauseum, thereby avoiding the actual work of the vision to be realized. Risk is no longer allowed, unless it is for purposes of paying an economist to analyze why an innovation is surely impossible.
This visionary has managed to stay her course...and will continue to do so until mile after mile of next generation solar driven instrastructure is built as humanity´s opportunity for success (paraphrase of Bucky Fuller).
What follows is evidence of the most valuable lesson I learned as a master´s student of art history: focus, focus, focus, stay the course even when others don´t see it, and adopt a creative process that delivers on a single pathway to the initial vision, no faltering or double mindedness allowed. Such was the singlemindedness of Edouard Vuillard´s creative process as compared to his Impressionist colleagues that were forever changing their sketches. Solar and hydrogen energy, fueling all of Spaceship Earth´s infrastructure, was my vision in 1986 only now able to be fully articulated so as to be able to be delivered up by the technologist who put man on the moon as the giant leap for mankind that The Apollo Project really chould have been.
21cdd & SOL·MAX·ION Design Science are stealth start-up concerns formulated under CHEBEL Cos as commercial receptacles of personal and academic research since 1986 focused on the evolution of a next generation transportation engineering system design, ‘LINC – Levitated International Causeway’ for its implementation, globally. These two companies mission and goals are to promote sustainable transportation and utility infrastructure that will effect broad scale change among land use and urban developers.

SOLMAXION Design Science & Engineering (SOLMAXION)
Founder/Chief Designer
Extensive system requirements analysis and user interface design for a next generation highest of high-speed transportation system that can augment all existing multi-modal but gridlocked freight corridors. These requirements have been assimilated as LINC™, or Levitated InterNational Causeway. United Parcel Service (UPS) regards LINC as´their´Internet Packet technology. A LINC built 800 miles along the US/Mexican border would earn a 30 year contract from UPS, as they have declared they would make El Paso/Juarez their North American Hub in lieu of Chicago.
Inventor/Designer of LINC Way System™ (Patent in Process), a convergent engineering system for 21st century transport & utility upgrade, domestically and worldwide
Extensive Research & Economic Analysis for inserting the world’s first Solar Reserve™ & Hydrogen Refinery™ into Chile’s Atacama Desert or other. This ‘Refinery’ serves as a power and fuel source for The LINC Way System™ as well as enables regional solar and hydrogen economies
Ecuador: Organized a $1.5B Technologically Advanced Drilling Team that was Pre-Qualified by PetroEcuador for bidding on Ecuador’s Amazonian oil reserve as part of The LINC Way System’s proposed alignment insertion into Latin America. Three revolutions and rampant corruption prevented any pre-qualified team from bidding the job.
NASA Ames Research Center: on NASA’s marketing budget @ $300K, personally conceived, managed and orchestrated, as the client, 60+ engineers and vendors to effect:
§ Simulation of LINC (i.e. leapfrog design for next generation transport in the U.S.) in the NASA Ames Visual Motion Simulator (VMS) – the world’s largest dynamic flight simulator
§ Unprecedented collaboration among site contractors/engineers and NASA’s so as to integrate and ready this simulation’s specifications and system requirements for testing a vehicle and system design entirely outside of the box of norms for procedures at this facility
§ Defined and designed a maglev instrument panel, oversaw vendors programming and prototyping
§ Defined criteria and managed optimal route alignment through the Angeles National Forest between Palmdale & Burbank, CA
§ Defined and tasked test and simulation schedule
§ Managed invited participants from Ecuador, UPS, investors, engineers, mayors, politicians, et al. who experienced the simulator and provided user feedback for further analysis and iteration. The simulation proved out a 6 minute run between Palmdale & Burbank, CA that further proved the validity of Palmdale, CA airport for passenger service inside the LA Airports System.
§ Organized a Maglev Design Invited Workshop, involving Ecuadorian Minister of Public Works, Ecudorian Businessmen, US Investors, Academic, Land Planners, Mayors, Transportation Experts, held at Stanford Schwab Conference Center
§ Derived and assimilated extensive human interface design criteria. The workshop and simulation proved that a multi-billion dollar test track is not needed for prototyping test purposes, unlike the nearest benchmark & competing design, The German Transrapid MagLev. The exercise was proprietary to my company and proved a breakthrough in systems engineering prototyping programmatics and costs
§ Network Design & Economic Evaluation of LINC™ as applied to Metropolitan Los Angeles that determined LINC™ can double the freeway capacity when inserted per optimal network and engineering design & roll out schedule

PRESENTATIONS
The Ecuadorian Navy asked, on a one hour notice, to use the project to lobby against the U.S. DoD imposed definition of hemispheric defense that mimicked Plan Colombia then trying to impose IMF-financed military equipos across Latin America. LATAM countries were asking for jobs via infrastructure upgrades, not guns. The Americas Project is being proposed as a viable private-public economic development project for the Hemisphere. It stands today as a sustainable Pan American "LINC WAY" aka 21st century Pan American Highway based on its ability to transform the global supply chain as if a macro version of the "Internet Packet Switch" that delivered up the Internet info-revolution. United Parcel Service has stated, "LINC will change how we price freight." The project embodies an alternative but equally effective definition for Hemispheric Defense: Economic Development with Embedded Defense Systems. This alternative, one that can create Apollo-esque era engineering and manufacturing jobs while upgrading hemispheric infrastructure for all, was fully presented with visuals in a printed brochure. By week's end, the approach sucessfully countered the U.S/Colombian definition: sell en masse Lockheed F14s to LATAM. The summary vote by day 5 went in favor of Economic Development with Embedded Defense vs. Arm All with F14s. The U.S. Plan Colombia´s influence was turned back; 36 of 38 Ministers of Defense voted against the U.S. / Colombian definition based on The Americas Project presentation at the 2006 Quito Hemispheric Defense Summit Meeting.
